35. A woman should not be alone with another man.

"It is not permissible for a man to be alone with a woman, and no lady should travel except with a Mahram (i.e. her husband or a person whom she cannot marry in any case for ever; e.g. her father, brother, nephew etc.)." (Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 52, Number 250).

The Prophet () said, "A woman should not travel except with a Dhu-Mahram (her husband or a man with whom that woman cannot marry at all according to the Islamic Jurisprudence), and no man may visit her except in the presence of a Dhu-Mahram." A man got up and said, "O Allah's Messenger ()! I intend to go to such and such an army and my wife wants to perform Hajj." The Prophet () said (to him), "Go along with her (to Hajj).(Al Bukhari 1862, Bk.28, H.42).

The correct scholarly view of Hanafis and Hanbalis is that it is not permissible for a woman to travel alone for Hajj or for any other purpose without mahram, because the Prophet said: “No one should travel except with a maharam”.(Bukhari 1862).

There are cases when women get married just for the purpose of gong to Hajj because she doesn’t have a husband or anyone she could go to Hajj with. There are also women who forge documents to circumvent the difficult situation.

36.A woman has to breast feed an adult to be alone with him. This makes the male becomes the foster child of the woman and not be able to marry or have sex.

"Sahlah bint Suhail came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'I see (displeasure) in the face of Abu Hudhaifah when Salim enters upon me.' The Messenger of Allah said: 'Breast-feed him.' She said: 'How can I breast-feed him when he is a grown man?' He said: 'Don't I know that he is a grown man?' Then she came after that and said: 'By the One Who sent you with the truth as a Prophet, I have never seen anything I dislike on the face of Abu Hudhaifah after that.'" (Sunan an-Nasa’I 3320, Bk. 26, H. 125).

The breast feeding ayats from the Quran got lost:

Aisha said,“The Verse of stoning and of breastfeeding an adult ten times was revealed1, and the paper was with me under my pillow. When the Messenger of Allah died, we were preoccupied with his death, and a tame sheep came in and ate it.”

1: These verses were abrogated in recitation but not ruling. Other ahadith establish the number for fosterage to be 5. (Sunan Ibn Majah 1944, Bk. 9, H. 100).

Therefore this verse was lost in the Quran as it was eaten by goats when the sahabas were fighting for the succession to Muhammad. Muhammad’s dead body lay three days unattended as the fight for the succession continued.

Muhammad said: “Breastfeeding once or twice, or suckling once or twice, does not make (marriage) unlawful.” (sahih, Sunan Ibn Majah 1940, Bk. 9, H. 96).

“Once of the things that Allah revealed in the the Qur'an and then abrogated was that nothing makes marriage prohibited except ten breast feedings or five well-known (breast feedings).”( Sahih, Sunan Ibn Majah, 1942, Bk.9, H. 98).

that the Prophet entered upon her and there was a man with her. He said: “Who is this? She said: “This is my brother.” He said: “Look at whom you allow to enter upon you, because the breast-feeding (that makes a person Mahram) is that which satisfies hunger.” (Sahih, Sunan Ibn Majah 1945, Bk.9, H. 101).

Muhammad said: “There is no breastfeeding except that which fills the stomach.” (Sahih, Sunan Ibn Majah 1946, Bk.9, H. 102)
